Tape-out: By reaching a certain pre-silicon verification level, fabrication files are created and tape-out is performed. This project phase requires intensive interaction with the fab to perform all routines and data checks necessary.
Post-silicon verification: A post-silicon verification plan is created which includes all relevant test cases necessary for verifying the functionality of the real silicon by laboratory measurements. Additionally software needed to perform these tests is created. If silicon-issues are found, design changes are applied and documented in detail.
2nd tape-out (optional): According to silicon-issues found and re-design measures applied it might be necessary to perform a 2nd tape-out run and parts of post-silicon verification again.
Documentation: The final version of the architecture specification is released and test reports are created according to verification plans.
